need help....again. :-(
i have just put on my intake and throttle body. everything was cleaned out and i, hopefully, put everything where it needs to be. but i have a very high idel (about 2000) and the engine seems to be very hot! also when i took it for a test drive, i saw that it leaked out a large amount of oil. can someone plz help me to find out what the problem might be. thank you, gil.

Re: need help....again. :-(
your oil leak is most likely coming from the front or rear of the intake manifold where the bead of RTV is suppose to seal it. Your high idle is most likely coming from a hose not connected to the intake manifold causing a vaccum leak.
Re: need help....again. :-(
if thats the case then i am going to have to take the manifold off again and reseal it?? or can i just put some silicone on with the manifold still on? and the leak....i am not too sure if that is it, all the hoses are in place. i can double cheak though. thanks
Re: need help....again. :-(
and the high idle?? what else might it be if all the hoses are all in place?? how could i find out what it might be?? its idling at 2000 and when i put it in rev. it hits hard....also in drive, but not as hard. what could be causing that?
Re: need help....again. :-(
Yes it's possible. You didn't change the setting on the throttle blades did you? That little bottom out screw you know? Or, are you sure the blades are shutting fully after the cleaning? Can you reach behind the intake and feel oil back there?
Re: need help....again. :-(
no, i didnt change any setting on the throttle body. and i am more than sure the blades close all the way. where is the bottom out screw at?? is it that on at the top?? that ilde control screw?? and i have not checked behide the manifold yet cuz the enigineis hott!! i dont want to burn myself...it seems alot hotter than usual. could the leak be causing the un-normal heat?
Re: need help....again. :-(
actually no, the gauge is right where it should be. lt1s are know to get really hot though right? it could just be me. plus the smoke from the oil might be helping me think its hotter than usual. and....i think i left the sensors on. i know it didnt have the aic valve....but i think it had the tps on it. is the screw supposed to be all the way in or in a specific place?
Re: need help....again. :-(
It's just a return set screw for the blades when they are closed. Some people mess with it. I didn''t know if you removed the IAC or TPS and maybe got those back in wrong. I'm gonna say vacuum leak somewhere, and probably an oil leak from the back of the intake. They could be from the same hole but you may actually have two separate problems there. Good Luck - you'll find it. I gotta get to bed.
