Angry need help after LT1 rebuild

i have just got my LT1 running after i rebuilt the motor. it idles at like 1800 and fans wont come on. i am thinking the idle air control valve is stuck open. i have never heard this thing run until today so i know nothing of the history of it. is there any certain way to bleed the coolant system? any info would be great thanks guys

Did you do a completely stock rebuild since the car didn't run when you got it? It might be something simple like the idle adjustment screw is out too far or something. Did the idle go down as the car warmed up or anything? How long did you let the car run before you shut it off? It might not have warmed up enough for the fans to kick on.

Re: need help after LT1 rebuild

i did not know that there was a idle adjustment screw. might be but the throttle blades look closed to me. i will check tomorrow though. also the temp got up to 220 and then i turned it off. i am not sure if i have gotten all of the air out the coolant lines. i have let the bleed screws go until i get soild coolant out of it. but my fans have not come on. that is a problem i am sure. the car had a blown head gasket but i opted for a rebuild since it has 184k. interanly it looked really good besides the head gasket. thanks for your help though.

forgot above, it idled at like 1300 when i first started it and then it went up. i did not let it run too long as i was worried about the temp. also it was a stock rebuild. i thought that they are suppoed to idle fast then drop down to like 600 or something. anyways thanks

It's is on the driver's side of the TB right where the linkage is. You will need an allen wrench to adjust it. Also you might try to reset the IAC motor by disconnecting the battery and then after a few minutes reconnect it. You will then depress the pedal a little then start the car and let it run for like 10 seconds. Do you have a scanner of some sort?

it's not the adjustment screw, if you didn't tamper with it it's gonna be set!!!!!

i'd look into the iac as an issue!

Re: need help after LT1 rebuild

i think the computer is supposed to reset the iac everytime you go to start the car. you could try unplugging it. what does it do if you give it some throttle?
check the ground on your fans, or the relay itself.

sounds like computer issues, you probably got a bad sensor or something not plugged in or grounded if you ask me. do you know anyone with a scanner that knows the computers?
