Different muffler?
Different muffler?
I have a 96 z28 with mac mids and slp loudmouth with no cats. And it is LOUD. I love the loudness but i dont really like the sound. Its really raspy and crackly and it shoots flames some times. I am looking to put something in place of the slp resinator so ANY 3 inch muffler will work. What will make my car sound good and loud?? Thanks
Re: Different muffler?
I know this sounds redneck but why dont you try a glasspack. it really makes the car sound awesome with a loudmouth. And the biggest plus is that it is a straight through design and theyre only $20
Re: Different muffler?
i replaced the loudmouth resonator about a month ago... heres my post about it.,

(Read sticky on use of "TTT")
You need some back pressure. That's why it's so crackly and you shoot flames. Most people think all backpressure is bad. Well, they're wrong. On your normal to moderatly modded engines, you need a certain amount of back pressure. Basicly you have it straight piped, which means no back pressure. Try putting on a regular aftermarket muffler of some kind so you atleast get SOME back pressure. IMO flowmasters sounds awsome and will get rid of most of your crackling. Glasspacks wont get rid of it.

Re: Different muffler?
SLP has introduced a new muffler for the LM that addresses your concerns (seems everyone has the same gripe). Look up loudmouth 2 (or something like that) on the Slp site. You can buy just the new muffler for about $100.
