need help on 918 install
My cam manufacturer said to install them to 1.8. that means I have to buy a tool and measure them, then simply install them correct? is there any special way to install these springs that I may have overlooked?
i have the 787-16 retainers and the 648-16 locks, am I good to go? this is for a small 224/230 cam with medium lift, btw.
http://web.camaross.com/forums/showt...ht=918+install that page was very helpful, but I just want to be sure!

Re: need help on 918 install
Assuming everything on your heads is stock, with the parts you mention,
you should end up with an installed height very close to 1.78", which is
the stock spec. I do not like using the stock spring seats with the 918s,
but there are a lot of installs out there. You will see what I mean when
you set a 918 on the stock seat. Here is a pic if you are curious
Beehive and LT4 spring seat
If you use the 4705-16 spring seats the installed height will be close to 1.75".
Both will work with the GM 846 (or CC 503) cam.

Re: need help on 918 install
Yes they make a tool you can get at summit. If your heads have some miles on them make sure you check the height. I just did my LT1 heads with 918 spring i measured mine befor i did any work to the valves and with stock seats i measured any where from 1.795 to 1.889. You want to set you height to the 1.8 or a little less with spring seat. You can buy spring spacers and most parts stores.
