need help

Ok, it's been a while since i've launched my car from stop or shifted it hard or anything. The other day i launched and right when i shifted to 2nd it sounded like and felt like a bomb went off near the rear of the car and i noticed that 2nd gear was gone, all it would do was rev. i put her in neutral and coasted to a stop and looked around under the car and behind it. Nothing was leaking and i didnt see anything broken. So i sat around for probably 10 min till my friend got there. I got back in the car and started to drive off. 2nd gear now seemed to be there again. i didnt hear any sounds or anything weird on the way back to my house. The rear end sounded fine too. I jacked the car up and looked all around and nothing. Could it be that i just shocked the rear end too much on the shift or something. I know the clutch grabbed good but i dont know if that would have caused it. Thanks.

Any ideas on what could have happened or if something could be damaged?

Please read the guideline stickied at the top of the topic page regarding "Abuse of TTT".

This appears to be more of a "Drivetrain" question, and should have been posted in that forum. Might explain why you are not getting responses in the "Engine" tech forum.
