Alright, well I just did a cam swap with new rockers and springs and whatnot and I just got everything back together and went to start it and it didn't start. It made a pop noise a couple times like it was firing, but it never turned over. I can't think off of the top of my head what it could be. Is there any special orientation that the opti had to be in when I put it back on(still non-vented). Other than that I have no idea what else it could be. It was just weird to get a pop or two but still didn't start.
Could I have flooded the motor by cranking it a few times with the coil off to get the oil moving? I am at a loss here, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is there an easy way to adjust the rockers or do I have to go through the whole zero lash adjustment all over? I still don't know why its not starting. I am hoping that its not my opti cause it worked fine when I pulled it and I didn't get a drop of water on it when pulling the water pump.
The only thing I can think of is the rockers, but I adjusted the zero lash the way shoebox's site suggested. I used method 3 and did each cylinder at a time, then I gave them all a half turn preload. Do you think a half turn was too much for the preload?

Non veneted opti's use a splined alignment but they probably can be forced on incorrectly. You mentioned the poping sounds so I assume your getting spark.
I mentioned the valve lash because if the lifters aren't pumped up, then even with a 1/2 turn, they could be to tight once they start getting oil pressure. This happened to me so thats why I mentioned it. I ened up backing off all the vlaves and the motor started. I then adjusted them with the engine running.
I also hooked up a timing light to each of my cylinders to see if they were all firing to be sure the coil and all secondary ignition components were working. You may want to check for a good spark at all your plug wires.

Are you moving the rocker side to side or lifting on the nose?
side to sid emovement doesnt really tell you much, lifting the nost will tell you how loose or tight they really are.
Yes the Opti on the non-vented goes in a certain way, you must align the wide spaced tooth wwith the coresponding space on the cam gear. I would allways mark it with white-out so I could see it better when assembling. Is there anyway you can show me a pic of what you are talking about with the opti. That may be the case because I think I just put it back on there. So is there a wider tooth on the spline that goes into the timing cover or something? I don't remember seeing anything obvious, but I could be wrong.
So if anyone has a pic of how the opti is supposed to go back in I would appreaciate it.

Does Shoebox have a picture of this maybe.
the little shaft that splines into the back of the opti on one end and into the top timing gear on the other has a wider tooth on it that matches up on the opti and on the cam sprocket of the timing set. I'll look for a picture.

Thanks again for your help, that has to be my problem because I seriously doubt that I just lucked out and hooked it up right by accident. So this can easily be hooked up wrong then I am assuming because I definitely didn't force anything?

I would confirm all other things first, unless youre completely uncertain about the assembly.
The spline is on both ends at the same spot. I allways put a line of whiteout accross there from one end of the shft to the other and put a dot above the doublewide coresponding space on the gear to help line em up.

with the opti off its easy to look in there and see the extra spaced spline, just line the shaft up with it and slide it into the opti and then slide the thing into the timing gear, look them over good to find the wide splined (or double spline etc). its easiest if you tuen the motor over by hand until the spot is at the 12 o clock position, so you can watch the shaft slide into the sprocket.

So, just is there an extra spaced spline in the opti end too or just the timing gear just so I can get this straight and do it the right way this time.
