need to get mcleod flywheel balanced for new motor?
need to get mcleod flywheel balanced for new motor?
Quick question. I'm going to drop in a crate engine in my car, and I have a mcleod street twin setup(steel flywheel and clutch assembly). DO I need to get this balanced, how do I go about doing this?? THe engine manufacturer? Not sure on this since the engine isn't stock.

Did you have the clutch with your stock engine? If so it is externally balanced and should have a weight on it.
You need to find out what kind of balance the crate motor is. More than likely, it is nuetral balance. This means you need to remove the balance weight from the flywheel, and then have a machine shop double check it.

I just talked to the engine manufacturer, you're right it is neutral balanced. I'll have to get the flywheel balanced correctly.
Thanks
