Need engine help!

Well I just put in the Hotcam,1.6RR's,Double Roller timing chain, electric water pump, ported heads and intake and MACs. Down loaded a LT1 edit file for the new stuff. Fired it up, noticed that I had an oil leak and that the car seemed to surge alot, and bareley idle. Took the intake back off, resealed it, and adjusted the RR's from 3/4 turn past zero lash to 1/2 turns past zero lash. Put the car back together, and fired it up. Car ran perfect, pulled real hard, all the way up to a bang. The temp shot straight up to almost 260, and car started missing real bad. So I shut it down and got it home. After it cooled down, I started it and it still misses and when I feather the throttle I here alot of pinging coming from it. When I shut it off, I can here the coolant gurgleing. Looks like I have to tear it back down. Sounds like a head gasket or head right? Does anyone have any thoughts about what happened? I torqued everything to specs I thought.
Thanks,
Scott

Did you bleed ALL of the air from the system? A dealership did some work to my car (Gay Pontiac) and didn't bleed all of the air out and blew BOTH head gaskets. Tried saying it was a fluke and my fault becuse of headers? But one side was leaking out the exhaust and the other into my oil. Look out the back for a coolant smell. You can also get rid of alot of air without even starting the car by letting the pump run with the bleeder screws open. Oh, and keep the cap on or you'll just keep dumping air back in the system. Good luck!

I will make sure that all of the air is out of the system. I did check the exhaust when it was running and didn't smell any antifreeze. It wasn't white either. I pulled the plugs and wires and they seem to be in good shape. Thanks for the feedback. Any other suggestions?

I checked the air bleeds and found that all the air seems to be out. I had someone else check the LT1 edit, and it seemed to be inline with their Hotcam file. When I start the car it idles rough and wants to die. I hear an unusual air sound coming from the pass head. It doesn't sound like a vacuum leak. I'm not sure what it is. Any ideas?

Thanks,

You could look at all your plugs and drain and inspect the oil and filter.
