Can a breather hurt?

I know we have the PCV system on our cars to basically take care of this function but at a certain HP level is it good or helpful to use a breather.

Ive heard both ways on this but can it really hurt if its not needed?

cant see why it would hurt. get you a k&n screw in breather. and put a vac cap on the tb where the hose would go..

Injuneer has long posts about this. Try a search to see if you can find one. It should tell you all you need to know.

Actually you have one already, its the line on the pass side valve cover going to the throttle body. There is no vacuum pulled from the t.b. as it actually vents to the front of the t.b. It WILL vent if there is any pressure in the crankcase however, it is designed to breathe in metered air since the PCV system is designed to pull a vacuum in the crankcase.

I can't see any real harm in using a breather... it will just mean there is a small amount of unmetered air entering the combustion chambers.... but nothing the long term fuel corrections can't easilly correct.

I also don't see any benefit in running one either.
