Need an answer fast please!!

I want to buy a Trans Am, I think I found the one!!

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...or=&cardist=31

if that link, its on Autotrader.com 07010 is the zip code and the price range is 6500 and its the m6 with 123k on it.

I think that is irrelevant... here is the decription on it...

1994 TRANS AM, v8, 6 spd, t-tops, all pwr, lthr, 123k mls, exh, blk, good tires, intake, $6500 orbo. 973-906-6649 Randolph

If EVERYTHING checks out perfect... clutch, brakes, shifts smooth, etc... think its worth 6500$? I mean, it is a 94 and it does have 123k on it. But it IS th car I want!! Its Black with 16" LS1 rims... T-Tops, nice CD player, M6... just a little unsure if the price is right. Seems a bit steep to me... I would think more along the lines of like 5500$ but I figured I would ask you guys.

Thanks!!

Yeah, I'd even say it's worth $4000-4500, depending on condition. Remember, it's a 10 year old car with the kinda miles where major things start to get replaced or fixed. My '96 Z28 had 79k when I bought it for only $6200 out the door of a city dealer. So far 93k and still pulling strong. Good luck!

If the optispark hasn't been replaced recently i wouldn't pay more than 5k for it and use the extra to buy a dynaspark and new plugs and wires and get all of that taken care of as soon as you buy it, because if the pervious owner hasn't fixed it yet, you will have to soon.

dealing with that right now with my '94 m6 formula

Dynospark? Is that like a performance optispark? What signs do I look for from a faulty Optispark and timing chain?

I drove it today... I pinned it in first at 2000 at no tire spinning. He claimed before I got in the car that his tires are awesome. Then he said it once we were driving, then once we got out. I didn't catch the tires brand... stupid me.

But all in all, it drove great. No slips, brakes felt good... no hesitating when accelerating. It felt really nice. Driver side Seat was torn apart from wear and tear... left headlight makes grinding noise when closing, how much is that to fix? Stock Radio... hrm

So 6500$ is a little more then what he should get right? I thought 5500$ but someone said like 4500$!! I mean, I know for sure he won't go that low, but maybe I can squeeze out a 5k or 5500$ out of him when I talk about all the **** that needs to be dealt with on a high mileage car. Thanks fellas!!

Opti going bad usually manifests itself as a miss, hesitation, etc. Think of things that are spark related. You'd probably notice it.

2000rpm in first and no spin? Been a while since I was stock, but I'd think it "should" spin. LT1's have a ton of low end torque.

Headlight grinding means he probably stripped the motor gear. Don't think it is too bad to fix and there used to be someone around selling metal gears for them.

And @ 120k+ miles that price does seem a bit high, especially considering there are a few problems with it.

I didn't have any takers when I was trying to sell mine. 1/2 the miles and aproaching twice the hp, lol. Its probably the purple color.

The price seems to be pretty high for '94. It can be worth it if there is no serious problems. If you don't feel comfortable with self inspection - get trusted mechanic inspect it for you. Do you need to pass inspection before registering vehicle in your state? If so, let the seller do an inspection (it can be really pricey if something is worn or not state-approved...).

You think maybe it didn't spin because of the tires? It doesn't have many mods... just an intake and catback. B&M Ripper also, but that isn't a power thing. Or... do you think it could be something else?

Unless he's running drag radials, you should have roasted them.

So you definitely think somethings the matter with that? Not spinning them? I thought something was wrong too... But I have driven 2 LT1's and either of them spun the tires when floored in first.

So then you think I should hold off?
