need advice on rr's

I know i'll be going with the CC305 cam, and I just need advice on rr's. Could the stock 1.5's be used or do I need to upgrade to 1.6?? what would be the diffences in the 3/8" and the 7/16"? What are advantages and disadvantages of the self aligning and the non-self aligning??

Cool

You can use either 1.5 or 1.6 rockers. which ever ones you use make sure your springs can handle it. Off the top of my head I think the stock springs can't handle the CC305 even with the 1.5 rockers, so a spring upgrade is in in order either way.

The stock LT1 head uses self aligning rockers to keep the rocker on the head of the vavle. You will have to install pushrod guide plates and hardened pushrods to run non-self aligning rockers.

Personally...If your gonna get roller rockers, the CC305 cam and have to replace the springs. You might as well get the Hot cam kit. The specs are the same and you will save about $100.

OPS The difference between 3/8 and 7/16 studs is 1/16

If you have a regular street driven car, don't worry about 7/16 studs. If you have a high lift cam and high pressure springs it's a good idea. The other 90% of us are fine with the stock size 3/8 studs

the 305 is a little bigger of a cam then the hotcam from what ive seen

SA rockers have like little teeth so to speak that line the rocker up with the spring, NSA need guide plates for the push rods as stated above.

With the 1.6rr's youll get more lift out of the cam, and scince your going to be needing a spring upgrade anyway, might aswel get springs that can handle the 1.6rr lift over the 1.5rr's lift.
As for the stud size, we have stock 3/8s studs and the 7/16 stud i stronger, other then that im not sure of the advantage of the 7/16 studs. But i AM told that i do want 7/16 studs by my head guy, he said hed recomend it.. So while u have the motor apart anyway, might as well do it up

well the reason why i would be going with the 305 is because i'm looking for a smoother idle and the 305 wouldn't be as lopey as the hotcam.

so for the easiest install i'll be wanting self aligning???

Cool

I was under the impression that the Hot cam had a better idle than the CC305 because it has a 114LSA vs a 112LSA for the CC305

Am I right or wrong......

huh...I was actually under the impression that the 114LSA would be smoother than 112LSA. Don't the stock cams have something like 116?

Other way around ...hotcam 112 lsa .....cc305 114 lsa. 114 lsa will generally be less loppy thust idle better. Personally, the lope of the hotcam sounded damn good to me on my old setup and idled fine with very little tuning.
