Need advice of experts :)

I am in the process of putting an lt1 from a 94z28 in my 95 impala ss. I got everything hooked up or I think I do. Well when I went to connect the battery the car actually turned over. I triple checked the starter to make sure everything was cool and it looks good. I have never heard of this happening and noone has a clue yet. What could be wrong? I was thinking I have the coil crap screwed up maybe. The car came to me with no motor and has an msd box with a adjustable timing box. The car also has a remote starter which I was thinking might be the problem. I am out of my league now.
Would love to hear what you guys think. I tried hitting the starter selenoid with a hammer(not every hard because my headers are in the way) and it didn't help.

Thanks
Brandon

Disable the remote starter. The only other way I could see that happening is if the ign. wire was making contact w/ the + terminal on the starter.

Thanks SS RRR! Now I just have to figure out how to disable the remote start. One of the sucky things about buying a car with this crap is I haven't a clue where anything is was mounted.
thanks

Could be that you are putting the wires on the starter incorrectly.

The starter selenoid has three terminals. I have the large gage battery cable going to the largest one. The middle one already had one going from the starter body to it. Then there is a little one with a 8mm nut that is unused.. Sound correct? I am pretty sure it is the only way it could be.

If it is like this, then ok. The purple wire should only have 12v on it when the key is in START.

i had the same thing happen to me at work,, the car had remote start and when i hooked up the battery cable the engine started to crank,,

have someone sit in the car and hold down the brake pedal while you install the battery cable, if the brake is pressed the remote start will be de-activated

Rob,
Thanks for that diagram. I haven't seen that purple wire in my imp. There was a red wire with an eyelet that the prev owner marked put on starter motor, maybe the red one is the same as your purple. I have that one hooked up again but it didn't make a diff.

Jay thanks for the heads up on the remote start. Once I get the cable in when the brake is pressed everything will be cool?

I also found a wire that looks pretty important hiding under my fender cover flap It is a wire thatis right next to my battery. It is grounded to the passenger side fender along with 2 other wires. One of the 2 wires is black and goes into the negative battery cable and the other is also black and runs back into the firewall. The one I don't have hooked up is black 8awg wire that is about 16 inches long and has an eyelet on it that is about 3/8. It def looks factory. I would bet this is probably my problem, maybe along with remote start. I took a pic with the digital and would be very appreciative i I could email it to someone to look at and possibly tell me where it goes..

EDIT: UPDATE. I had my wife sit in the car and press the brake and it still sparked when I tried to put in the positive cable.

Thanks
Brandon

Ok I figured it out. Had to unhook all the alarm/remote start crap. It fird right up! It ran bad after about 5 seconds though. I am hoping it is due to the fact that I didn't plug the egr vacuum line from the manifold up. I also have a leak at the top of my fernco piece going form the throttle body to maf.
It is good to finally start the imp up.
