is it necessary to remove rockers/pushrods before removing heads?

hey im gettin ready to pull the heads out of my 95 lt1 z28 and was wondering if i had to remove the rockers before doing so. if i do, does anyone know off hand what size nuts hold the rockers on? im hoping the rockers are making the heads stay on real tight because i tugged on the head bolts a little and they didnt even BUDGE. so maybe they will loosen up if i remove the rockers?

thanks

3/8" fits the rockers. only the pushrods should be removed before pulling the heads, just loosen the rocker enough to pull the push rod out. the rockers do NOT hold the heads down....make sure you have removed 17 bolts per head.....mine just pulled right off no problem....

did you use an impact to get em out? these things are freakin TIGHT! theyre 1/2" correct? my 1/2" 16pt socket is bitin into the bolt head when i really torque on it, but i think thats kinda usual for a 16pt socket
