is it necessary ......

when installing a hot cam is it neccessary to change the stock bearings.
the car has 140,000 miles.

At 140,000 mile? That question seems like it could answer itself. You don't HAVE to change the bearings, and I probably wouldn't. The whole motor should probably be worked over.
