Name That Valve Spring -Pics-

Well I bought a set of GTP ported LT4 heads and they came assembled with valvesprings used with a CC306. I was wondering if anyone could identify which they are from a few pictures I shot. According to the seller he just knows they are Dual Coil Comp Cam springs.

They look like dual coil, but I'm no expert. They actually give me the thought of 3 coil. They have the regular size tube spring on the outside, then a thinner narrow/flattened spring in the middle with a smaller regular tube spring on the inside.

I found a pic at Jegs for a Comp 924 Dual Spring with Damper. Its closely resembles the ones on my heads. Although it doesnt seem to be any thing special.

Thanks

Looks like my springs which are comp springs... would be impossible to tell EXACTLY which of the hundreds of springs they manufacture, those particular could be. If I had to make a guess based on popularity Id say they are 987s.

Well they are probably getting replaced by some 918's, but I kinda wanted to know what they are. I'm thinking 987's or 977's. I was hoping for the better of the two, so I could run them with a LE2 size cam, but we'll see.

Yeah, I'd say 987's also. They seem to be a popular choice.

Well they arent 987's. Here is a forsale thread with pics of 987's for sale. http://web.camaross.com/forums/showthread.php?t=436133

They do not have the middle flat spring you can see in my pics. I wonder what these things are. It would be nice not having to spend $200 on new springs and stuff if these are enough for my cam. Although the pics in the FS thread seem to have the same retainers as mine, Ti I think.

My 977's have three springs. The middle spring is flat and is a dampner and not really a spring. My old 987's were only two.....John

Thats why my buddy said about the 977. I really wish I knew, but it seems no one can tell me for sure from pics. At least I know its enough for a CC306.
