T/A lt1: 105mph 1/8th & 10.30 @ 131mph is going fast. How much nitrous where you spraying? Where those times with your old 383 (TFS heads?) or your new 355 (ported stock)? I remember you posting about changing setups, but got side tracked due to growing your family (congrats, by the way) You A4 guys have it way too easy .

97 RedSS: I broke my output shaft clean in 2 pieces . So I upgraded to the viper output shaft. I am surprised you had a problem with the T-56 @ 390 RWTQ, but on the bottle you should easily break it if your tires grab hard and the clutch does not slip. Also, save a headache and get pro gears. Even if your trans holds up the diff gear will shatter once you start getting over 4000 rpm with WOT clutch drops. You won't get your best times out of it your first day, so don't get hung up on it early in the going if your results are not what you want. You will find out soon enough that hole shots on nitrous are not to be messed with. If it does not leave a trail of parts at the line, then it may at the 330' if you miss the first couple of gear changes. Be careful, and start slow.

reamo04: I am running Hoosier Drag slicks 28x10x15. It runs on pump fuel. I tried VP Fuels ms-109 unleaded, but it only gained 1.4 HP so there is no reason for me to use it in this application. I have not looked at E85.
Do you have any links to sources outside this forum (I could just search if not)?

marshall93z: I only ran at Rockingham once (both lanes), but I never saw what you claim in my slips, or the slips of the people near me. You live much closer (go there more often?), so maybe you had a different experience. Also, I ran both lanes at Norwalk, and didn't have (or see) an issue. I would like to think that the timing equipment at a major track (NHRA/IHRA) would be accurate, but I guess you are right it could happen.

rje: It would be nice to meet you.

Actually my car ran those times when it had ported LT1 heads with a CC306, 355" no stroker, 3.42's in a 10bolt, 150shot NX and pumpgas. With a 200shot, racegas mixed, 10.17@133mph was my best on that setup. Later

blk95: No, the 4:88 gears are for the drag strip. The car bogs down hard with a quick clutch drop on the 4:10's, so the 1/4 mile times are not as quick as they could be. On the street the 4:10 is a perfect gear for this particular setup.

Funkybird: It's a MSD 2 step with a MSD Module Selector. It's a very abusive add on. Don't do it unless you really want to be quicker on the 1/4 mile.

95Bird: Yes, it's a 2 bolt . I should probably look into having the mains switched up to 4 bolt. A decent crank probably would not hurt either. I even run the stock oil pump . I didn't build the engine with longevity in mind, but I didn't expect it to be this awesome. This engine was just to have fun with until I got my big race engine for the 96. I have a dart block, sweet high end rotating assy, a set of Brodix 18x heads, and an 88mm turbo. However, it looks like I may sell it and go LS-X. Sure, my traditional small block would have been fast, but LS-X is the future. Also, my cylinder head guy says a properly built LS-X will easily turn over 9,000 RPM (much like the sbc).

I will run the T-56 as is until it breaks. I think I would put a Jerico 4 speed in it before I pro shifted the T-56, but I don't know yet.

T/A lt1: Again, you A4 guys make me sick . I used to have a similar setup to that, but the T-56 broke all of the drive train (including its self) before it got out of the 11's. That being said, I never once hurt the car on the street. It only broke when I put slicks on and dumped the clutch.

Gotta love how that factory t56 holds up so well to 600fwhp.
