What rpm are you launching at and what tires were you running? I'll be launching my m6 383ci w/ n20 soon and I'm going to have to learn to shift really, really quick. 1st gear goes by so fast even on just motor..

Also, when you say upgraded shaft, do you mean viper output shaft? I've already twisted my output shaft splines once...

congrats on the runs. More seat time and you will pick up some et. Its crazy that you ran almost dead on up top with your 8th mphs off by so much and your 60s so close. My 131+ mph pass was 103.4 in the 8th on a 1.42 60. Guess mine and your cars are completely different animals. Congrats again.

He could have ran in opposite lanes and they be different. Rockingham is like that... one lane the 1/8 MPH is higher(2-3) than the other, but all other increments/mph are the same.

95Bird: Thanks for the encouragement. The car is very sensitive to launch speed and shift speed. I hope I can get my 60's in your range. Is your trans pro shifted? If so, how much better is it?

T/A lt1: 105mph 1/8th & 10.30 @ 131mph is going fast. How much nitrous where you spraying? Where those times with your old 383 (TFS heads?) or your new 355 (ported stock)? I remember you posting about changing setups, but got side tracked due to growing your family (congrats, by the way) You A4 guys have it way too easy .

97 RedSS: I broke my output shaft clean in 2 pieces . So I upgraded to the viper output shaft. I am surprised you had a problem with the T-56 @ 390 RWTQ, but on the bottle you should easily break it if your tires grab hard and the clutch does not slip. Also, save a headache and get pro gears. Even if your trans holds up the diff gear will shatter once you start getting over 4000 rpm with WOT clutch drops. You won't get your best times out of it your first day, so don't get hung up on it early in the going if your results are not what you want. You will find out soon enough that hole shots on nitrous are not to be messed with. If it does not leave a trail of parts at the line, then it may at the 330' if you miss the first couple of gear changes. Be careful, and start slow.

reamo04: I am running Hoosier Drag slicks 28x10x15. It runs on pump fuel. I tried VP Fuels ms-109 unleaded, but it only gained 1.4 HP so there is no reason for me to use it in this application. I have not looked at E85.
Do you have any links to sources outside this forum (I could just search if not)?

marshall93z: I only ran at Rockingham once (both lanes), but I never saw what you claim in my slips, or the slips of the people near me. You live much closer (go there more often?), so maybe you had a different experience. Also, I ran both lanes at Norwalk, and didn't have (or see) an issue. I would like to think that the timing equipment at a major track (NHRA/IHRA) would be accurate, but I guess you are right it could happen.

rje: It would be nice to meet you.

I know what your battling right now. I went through it all with launch rpm etc. My tranny is pro shifted. I started eating syncros at about the speed your at now so I got tired of messing with em. Its like night and day at the track..shifts like butter at WOT. Driving around town takes some getting use to. You either have to jam the gears(quick shift) even when just putting around, double clutch it to let the gears sync up, or show shift and let the rpms come down until it rev matches and slids in the next gear. I just yank em..lol. By the way..I tried the hoosiers and could not make them work on my car. Something about the sidewall doesn't like the instant hit of a 6 speed. Swapped back to MT and my 60' improved.

You still running a 2 bolt main at 8000 rpms? I though i read somewhere that you said this is where you shift at..or close to it.

95Bird, you need a stiffwall Hoosier for the 6 speed launches. I'm a Hoosier dealer and over the years I haven't seen a better slick, you just have to find the one that meets your needs.

526 SS 96, I talked to Ron and told him that I would really like to get together with you guys the next time you were down, and all this 1/4 mile talk makes me want throw a set of 4.56's in and make a 1/4 pass. I guess it's been about 4 years since I last run a 1/4.

It happens a LOT at Rockingham, but maybe it's not everyone... all the time. And that makes it even weirder!

Nice I love a good old natural, 6speed car. Are the 4.88 gears for the cam?
