Mystery Oil Leak

I think I have had this since I installed the engine, but I really got under my truck and inspected it today. It leaks a small bit of oil (not noticable on dipstick after almost 3 months of leaking) while driving and sitting overnight. I hate leaving a spot on the driveway!!! I would say possibly a 1/4 quart has leaked out in 3 months if I was to estimate it. It slowly drips down the timing cover, and down onto my frame, then makes it to the asphalt. I cannot see exactly where it starts, but i know its not the crank seal in the timing cover. My other two options are the optispark seal and the water pump gear drive, correct? Which is the most prone one to leak? How can I tell which one it is, as I really do not want to have to remove the crank hub again to change the optispark one Thanks.

Ruled out the front of the intake. I am leaning towards waiting to replace both the optispark seal and blocking off the waterpump gear drive when I install the electric water pump in a few months. It just had the optispark replaced 500 miles ago and upgraded to the 95+ vented style, along with a lt4 hot cam kit, so all the seals up front are new, except the water pump drive seal.

sounds like the culprit. i had a leak from the crank seal because of a grove in the hub. and it slung oil everywhere.

Have fun sounds like a fun ride

I drove around 25 miles today and can tell its leaking pretty good now. I checked and as far as I can tell its coming from the waterpump gear drive, as that is where the most oil is present. From what I can see, I believe the seal is put in wrong. I can see both the red and the yellow of the seal, and from what I have read, the yellow is suppossed to be the only one out. Is this correct? If so, I am going to go head and get a new waterpump and install a new seal, as the waterpump is leaking also around a cracked oil cooler outlet.

I would have bet on the water pump seal. Just finished replacing mine and what a ridiculous PITA. Got it on the third try and then only after using the water pump coupling shaft as suggested by another cz28 member. Still wasn't anything like easy though, took all of the patience I had, really had to carefully work it onto the shaft and then get it to seal.
