Wow you did a lot of homework on this problem. I have found that, at least on my car the problems come in pairs which makes it that much harder to diagnose..... Like the last issue I had, low coolant and white smoke out of the exhaust for about ten minutes after start up if it was really cold outside. It was a lot of smoke too. Blown headgasket right? No- leaking radiator and a dying opti causing the #7 cylinder to not fire sometimes. The white smoke was a result of that cylinder letting unburned fuel into the exhaust. Which leads me to my weekend project, new plugs, over the valve cover wires, new opti, new seals on the timing chain and maybe a new oil pan gasket. Fun fun.

Sounds great Chris!

I learned a lot just reading this entire post!

I hope it all works out well, and I am glad you found out it wasn't anything serious!

hey Chris. i went back to force fed performance today, and we did the fuel filter and 02's. reset the code with the scanner. on the drive back home i gave it a few romps to see if the light would come on. it never came on on the hour drive back home. so im guessing the fuel filter was what solved my problem. im so friggin happy i dont have to stare at that damn SES light for another 6 months.

the owner of force fed performance, keith... said he talked to a chris from this board a while back that was having somewhat of a hard time figuring out what the f was going on as far as misifires and that the guy solved the problem by discovering a bent connecting rod. was this chris you???????

No it was not me, but coincidentally Keith and FFP sponsor my club, MTFBA.

I think it may be down to motor mounts, which I have never considered before now...but electrically/mechanically everything checks out.

One nice side effect of the 3rd new opti on this timing cover seal is I have a pretty healthy oil leak from the front cover running down over everything and the crank pulley is sligning it everywhere. Yum!

i thought i was out of the woods but not so. 3 days with no SES light on, the 4th day it happened. it came back on. i took it to a different shop and they recommend cleaning the injectors with some ultra sound wave technique or something instead of buying a whole set of injectors. so after i get the injectors cleaned and if the light comes back on...im at a total ****ing loss as i have exhausted every logical option

btw how much are a new set of injectors?

would it be cheaper to clean em or buy a new set?

the thing is i had a fuel injection service done and i thought that would take care of it but that injection service was only the upper half, it didnt clean the injectors seperately.

this is so frustrating!!!!!!!!!!!!!! my patience is running low

the guy at the shop scanned it and looked at the cars history on the scanner...it showed 42 thousand misfires. yikes!
getting the injectors cleaned and flow tested next week, if that doesnt work i dont know what else to do. it's a shame this has to happen as im about to sell the car.
