Mystery miss: Found

Finally found it Saturday while tearing down my car for the cam install.

I loosened all the bolts on the drivers-side valve cover, but it didnt quite wanna come off. After jiggling it around alittle, I found my problem.

The metal box that shields the PCV valve had somehow fallen down into one of Cylinder 5's valves. It was wedged between the valve and the rocker arm, push the rocker off of the pushrod and valve, with the rocker arm diagnal between the push rod and valve spring.

the thing that gets me is...i didnt think LT1s were supposed to have a PCV valve on the drivers side , since i have one on the passenger side also? I imagine the brilliant person who had my car before did it...

Anyway i was very relieved to find it, just wish i had thought to pull the valve covers before i had the whole front of the engine off. Live and learn...

The passenger side is the fresh air inlet (takes fresh air from the throttle body and puts it in the rear of the passenger's side valve cover). Vacuum then sucks it out of the drivers's side of the intake manifold thru the PCV valve. Always good when its an easy and cheap fix
