My transmission perform button works!

I have read a few posts concerning the "transmission perform" button that comes in some of the Pontiacs such as mine. Up until I got my tranny built and dumped a good bit into it, my button seemed useless. Last night out of curiosity, I push it. I was cruising at 70 @ about 2550RPM's. When I pushed it, the rpms jumped to about 2750 and held. I have yet to be able to try it out on a dry surface as it was wet. When the builder built the tranny, he put in a HD shift kit. Could this be the reason the button seems to react to being pushed more so then before when the tranny was in stock form?

From my understanding, a shift kit wouldn't affect it (shift kits just give you faster, harder shifts correct?) The performance button makes your auto act like a manual by downshifting. When your car jumped in rpms it prob went from OD to D, had you gotten up on it, it probably would have gone into the 5000 range... I could be wrong, but that's what I notice when I turn mine on.
