My throttle is getting stuck open.........

This has kinda been a problem for the last few years where i would be going above 30mph in 4th gear and put it to the floor for a second and let off. The rpms would stay in the upper 3k range. This would happen rarely. I would just hit the gas peddle agian real quick and the rpms would go back to normal. I just put a 6 speed back in the car(pedels too) and the problem is now worse than ever. I have a new IAC motor and New tps sensor. I have a bbk52mm tb and did the drill trick which made the car idle a lot better. Nothing is touching the side on the TB is touching. I also tried cleaning the TB with cleaning and nothing new. I dont think its the gas peddle either cause when its in idle, you can put it to the floor and it will not do it. Only in gear, and only when driving does this occur.

If anyone has any idea what i can look for or do, id appreciate it

Doug

Has it always done it with the BBK TB? Ever try a stock TB and see if it happens? It may not have enough spring return pressure.

I bought the car with the 52 mm on it. Thats does sound like a posibility. I dont have another TB to swap in its place though. Thanks for the suggestion.

Not a problem. You could always try to add/rig up a spring temporarily to see if that has any effect on the problem.

Another vote for a weak spring. I don't think this problem is all that uncommon. I was able to gain enough tension on mine by pulling some length of the spring out and bending it over the retaining tab, fwiw. It's really frustrating to trouble shoot because it only does it with plenty of vacuum so the problem only occurs during operation.
