As you stated, I didn't really notice a difference either. I miss the 4.10's, and with the new 9's in the car I could kick my self for not puting 4.10's back in. I hope the NOS makes up the difference.

You probably should of went with 4:10s in a stick to begin with but as long as you like it then that is all that matters. Good luck with them.

my friend has a 98 with 4.10's , his mods are weiand intake , lid , and loudmouth exhaust. In the 1/8th hes in 3rd gear at 6300rpm at the end. Hes afraid if he gets more power hell have to shift to 4rth before the line.

with my 4.10's I was at the top of 4th at the end of the 1/4...But I also shift really high. I now have a 9 inch with 4.33 Havent been to the track yet but shooting for 11's I have m6, cc306 cam, stock botom end, stock heads, headers, exhaust. 4.10s run the 1/4 in a 12.7 at 115 but I didnt really get on it till bout 1/3 of the way down in fear of breaking to wimpy 10 bolt. But now I got some slicks and a good clutch and I am ready for 11's.

If your asking then i highly doubt that you can change your own gears. Setting up gears is something most people leave to professionals. So it's either pay the man, or swap the whole rear with the new gears already setup in which actually isn't that bad.

I think he means can it be done without 'changing the whole rear end'.....
Yes both 3.23 and 3.73 rear carriers are 3 series..
2.73's have the 2 series carrier [meaning 3.23^ won't fit it]

I just used that calculator... and I dont think my gears are stock

Im going by 55 mph + 70 mph cruises though so its hard to tell

(wishes he could go find out...but needs to do his homework )

edit: Think I have 4.10s which is by me! So far Ive been getting very good mileage (at least compared to my truck) so Im not complaining at all.... Ive never been to the strip yet so IDK about that shifting to 5th thing.
