My single plane conversion progress

Im doing a single plane conversion on my lt1. The intake started out as a edelbrock super victor efi for a vortec motor. Ive just cut the thermostat housing and un needed parts off of it, and had all the extra holes welded up. I still need to drill all the mounting holes for the lt1 heads and have it powder coated. I will be using an 860performance elbow and put the as&m mono blade throttle body back on.

Here is the inprogress pictures

The intake work looks great! Keep us updated when you get it finished and powder-coated.

Also, I see you're from Red Oak and Red Oak isn't that big, so you must know Lloyd.

I know Lloyd and one other person in Red Oak (2 people) and that is probably about 30% of the population of Red Oak. I've also been to the Rocket Cafe out in the boone-docks South of Red Oak.

Any theory on the length of the 90 degree adapter? I noticed the Edelbrocks are short, whereas your's is much longer. (and I've seen other people build longer adapters).

Again, that is some really good work! You and Lloyd are really putting Red Oak on the map for LTX work.

Looks great! I have only one small piece of advice. Ditch the freeze plug in the dizzy hole and use a Plug from MSD. It's a mutch sturdier piece than the factory oil pump drive and I've had freeze plugs to come out of the water pump drive hole in the timing cover. It could happen in the dizzy hole too. Just a suggestion, BTW, how do you guys get the water crossover delete to look so clean?

Im not sure if there was theory behind it, This is what I found so that I could retain my lt1 style throttle body. It also places the throttle body in a fairly stock location so you can hook your intake ducting back up.

I think this freeze plug would be hard pressed to come out of there, It has a very nice interference fit that took a 5 ton press to get it in all the way and it is loctited in.I will keep and eye on it though.

I cut the jacket off with a sawall, had all the holes welded and just ground it down and then bead blasted that area trying to get some of the texture back into the intake before it gets powder coated.

We have to get the holes drilled next week hopefully so I get the boat back on the road.

Yeah. I had to press my plug in with a press as well. The problem is that aluminum expands and contracts at a different rate than the steel plug. The MSD plug is a much better solution either way, if you arent familiar with the failure issues of the plastic oil pump drive do a search. You might just change your mind.

I wish I could do this and have it be smogable.

Are you going to take advantage of that intake and use some raised runner heads?

Good work, i've been looking into this for a bit just havent gotten myself interested enough to actualy do it.

What angle are the bolt holes on with the cylinder head intake surface or the end rails? Any info on how you located and spot faced the bolt holes? I had planned on using just the outer 4 on each end to hold the intake, curious if thats what you did here?
