Is my rear sway bar the same as the panhard bar?

I've bent the bar that they have to take off in order to do a gear swap (right between the axle and the muffler - goes from side to side). Is this the rear sway bar or the panhard bar? thanks.

if the bar goes STRAIGHT horizontaly left to rightand is round then it is the sway bar. if it starts on the passenger side and goes DOWNWARD at a slight angle towards the drivers side, and looks like a stamped ( U shaped) piece of metal then it is the panhard rod. hope this helps. oh if it is the panhard BMR motorsports makes a great replacement that is a t a VERY good price.

Sounds like you're talking about the panhard bar.

From the above description, it's the panhard bar (u shaped & straight). What does it do? I've noticed wheel hop when I'm turning right.

It keeps the rear end centered under the car.

Your wheel hop could be just from the posi locking up. That is normal in a tight turn with a little power.
