GRRRR electrical problems...

well, while sitting at stoplights in gear my voltage will drop to about 11.2 'ish and then slowly drop over the next few minuites.

while driving it stays at about 12.0 - 12.3'ish volts, but sometimes actually droping to like 11.4 volts WHILE DRIVING !

if i'm at a stoplight and i hit it into neatural then it'll go back up to 11.8 - 12.1 volts, someimtes it needs a kick of gas real quick to push it the first time.

altinator? AGAIN?? this one managed to last about 5 months... cheap POS autozone rebuilt piece of junk... at least its got a 12 month warantee. as soon as this one dies after warantee i'm going to get an ac delco brand new one from GM.

but another thing that really worried me was when i got out of my car and hit the power locks to lock the door, nothing happened. i sat there for a few minuites and hit the lock and unlock and nothing happened, lights still on, etc. i turned the car on and suddenly the locks started working again, turned the car off and the locks worked. what might cause this?

I would say you need another alt. It is a crap shoot with the rebuilt ones on how long one will last. Fix that first, then see if you other problems persist.

agreed, my first rebuilt from autozone was horrible, was doing the same things as this one is doing now and the guy tried to tell me it was OK.

then i got this one and its worked GREAT till today, voltage never went below 13volts even with the A/C on... but over the last 2 months or so the A/C wasn't necessary, and now when i run the A/C the voltage drops at idle and when i flip the A/C back off again it only returns to about 12volts, not 13.5 like it used to do with the a/c off.

i think the A/C killed my altinator... too much stress
