My OVC wire aftermath, car won't crank.
My OVC wire aftermath, car won't crank.
Hi all. To summarize: I did plugs and wires because the car was running like crap and the wires and plugs had several bottle of juice and a hundred thousand miles on them. Car has started but now won't start at all.
Until 2 months ago my car had been sitting parked at my folks house where is sat for about a year. I finally became financially able to put some time into getting it back on the road drove it for about a month before the fuel pump crashed. Plugs and wires had a hundred thousand miles on them and the car started missing on the interstate, mostly around 55 until I hit the gas it would clear up . Having headers, I wanted to go over the valve covers. I bought the LT1 kit from Thunder Racing and put the ends on the wires and did then replaced all plugs and wires. I didn't disconnect the alternator or any accessories. After several attemps to crank the car after completion and it refusing to turn all the way over, and after putting a second battery in it (this time a brand new one) it eventually got it cranked but it ran horribly. Spatting and sputtering horribly. My father and I double, triple and quadruple checked the order and the wires are all connected to the right plug+opti terminal. Everything looks as I think it should. After shutting it off, I tried to re-crank it and it won't start again. At all. We pulled all the plugs out and cleaned them up after seeing them very nasty with black residue. Changed the plugs. Tried to get it to crank and after several failed attemps it started and idled a few minutes well. I took it for a short drive all the while it skipped. The Scanmaster showed the max degrees each time I even tapped the throttle. Rarely ever did I see this and never this high.
I got it home, after it being on the lift for a week and moved it to our basement from his garage and now it won't start at all. I've checked all to make sure all sensors, vacum hoses, connections on everything are correct. I checked the wire ends again that we put on and they all look correct. My fuel pressure guage stays around 41.
Could offer any advice that would help us diagnose this? If you read all that, thank you very much for the taking the time to do this. I'm recently married and have very limited time outside of 2 jobs and night classes to work on my car.

sounds like a bad o2 sensor, mine did the same thing and when pulled the plugs they were all black, replaced o2 sensor and cleaned plugs and good to go
Could also be opti going out.

Thanks. The 02's deffinitly need to be replaced and they are going to be right after I give it the Seafoam treatment which is going to happen as soon as I can get it to crank. I just didn't think they would keep it from cranking and making this horrible noise when it tries to crank.
I hope it's not the opti but I've been leaning in my head towards that being a possibility.

It still could be the opti but with black plugs make me think o2 sensors. Good Luck w/ it
