My new T/A !!

Some of you may remember a post i had 3 weeks ago. Well, the car i described in that post (94 T/A,LT-1,119k, auto, leather, t-tops...) i broke down and got for $1850. It's not perfect, but it'll be a project. For instance, the transmission shifts smoothly, but OD doesnt engage. At high rpm in second gear, it surges (i don't know a better way to describe it, It accelerates, heitates, accelerates, hesitates, all very quickly.) It runs hot in city driving (below the red mark but in between half and three quarters) Has all the squeaks and rattles accosciated with a ten year old car that has had the sh** driven out of it. I know its down on power because it wont break the tires loose at all. You guys have any suggestions or comments??

well the tranny will need to be rebuilt. no ifs, ands, or buts about it. the overheating may have something to do w/the tranny problems, but you should make sure the fins are not clogged in the radiator. pull the top plastic piece off the top of the rad. to inspect the front of the radiator fins for dirt, leaves, dead animals, whatever. see, the fins in your a/c condensor are bigger then the fins in the radiator. so stuff will go through the a/c cond., but get stuck in the rad.. also, check the front of the cond. too, same thing. make sure the coolant is full and clean looking. maybe have the rad. sent out to get flushed/cleaned while the tranny work is being done. should cost about $150 or so for labor and the flushing cost from "radiator hospital" or a local radiator shop. its def. time for new plugs and wires, make sure the air filter is good, and be suspucious of the cat. convertor after that many mi.s. also make sure the fans are coming on. sometimes the fans will have something wrong w/them or the relays and that can cause your overheating symptom. another good idea is to remove the MAF and spray clean the little wire coils on the inside. you need to spray from both sides, and blow dry or let air dry. do not try to scrube them out at all. do not touch the wires inside the MAF. that wil ruin it pretty easily. just use brake parts cleaner w/the small straw attached. make sure there isnt any corrosion on the coil either. thats pretty common and will kill the strength of the spark.

good luck and start snooping around that eng. compartment.

Yea, my car is at the 119,000 mark. I got it about 5 months ago and have been fixing it ever since . I have put new plugs, fuel injectors, tires, brakes, cat, now headers, gaskets and bolts and I am hoping for it to be working in a week or so. Hope you guys have good luck with your cars . If you have any questions don't be afraid to throw them on the board people are very cool and are willing to help. If I were you, I was a few months ago, I would get new plugs and wires, change the oil, fix everything up and then the fun begins. I have never driven my car when it has been running good so when it is fixed I will be driving it with all the mods in the sig and headers. I can't wait . Plus I have 3.73's sitting here too. Oh I am also 18 and still in high school.

my car is a 94 auto that's been through one tranny rebuild, and praying that the rings and bearings and valvetrain keep on tickin. i'll be replacing the valvetrain soon though so that's probably just gonna be a source of more problems but i love it!

sounds like you need a good tune up on the TA, plugs, wires, new opti, fuel filter, good oil change, coolant flush, new thermostat and the like.
