My new GMPP rockers are not fitting under valve covers
Since I have no place to work on car I took it to the Chevy Dealership. I was quoted $210 for installing new LT4 springs, seals, caps, locks and GMPP 1.6 rockers. He got almost all of one side done and the valve cover will not fix anymore. It appears to be hitting the top of the cover and not any inside structures like others have stated. It seems to be 1/8 too high so I read about someone using extra thick gaskets and it working. I found some Felpro cork gaskets with the metal inserts and they were $48 for a pair. They are about 3 times thicker than the rubber ones I was using. The rockers have GM 1.6 with 42 05 stamped on them. Has anyone had this problem and what did you do to solve your clearance issues? Have not opened the new gaskets yet so if there is a better way or something I am doing wrong let me know. Maybe the rockers I have are different than others since most just modified the covers to fit. Cutting or bend the inside supports to make them work.
Here is the Ebay auction for the rockers with picture. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...3AIT&viewitem=

I never read all your post.... It sounds like the Poly Locks are too tall, OR maby they diden't installed the rocker arms right. There's an indent on the pivit shaft of the rocker arm that the poly locks fit into. The other side is round, if they installed them on the round side then the locks would be to high by about 1/8 to 1/4". Just a thought?
In this link you can see the indent the lock fits into.

Try this, it should help.

Are you saying the flat part goes down and the rounded part is facing up? I didn't see any indent for the lock to fit into. I also thought if it was real close I could grind a tiny bit of the locking nut but still leave plenty for strength and to get a wrench on without stripping it. The nuts seem way taller then needed.
Here is what the nuts look like. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/SBC-C...Q5fAccessories
I found this old post check it out. But i think the supports are hitting on the RA and stopping the cover from setting down all the way.

There is plenty of room between the rockers for the support to fit nicely. I read the old post and they said they took some of the bottom off the lock off but not sure if thats a good idea. Keep the ideas coming! Thanks so far
Ya, the guy must be doing something wrong because they SHOULD fit no problem under stock valve covers. As mentioned make sure the pivot shaft is oriented correctly. Also, the valve covers only fit on in ONE direction only. I thought my rockers weren't clearing either after I installed them and it turned out that I was trying to put my valve covers on in the wrong direction. Easy to mess up, especially on the drivers side when you don't have the oil cap for reference.
How do I know what direction the covers go? Could have easily tries to do them wrong. I guess I could have him check both ways but just interested if there are markings or what. The passenger side is a no brainer with the alternator indent.
