Is my IAC motor dying?

I have idle problem only when the engine has been running for more than 30 mins and have been sitting in traffic in gear. My rpms keep getting lower (like 450 rpm) and it then jumps up to 700 or 800rpms and goes back to 500ish. I just cleaned the IAC motor assy. and it still does this, just not as bad. Is my IAC motor taking a ****? Could this be something else? It idles perfect except for this thing.

Cool

Since nobody chimed in,I would wiggle the iac wires, and wires leading up the map sensor(mines a 93 on top of the manifold),and see if this helps.Take it for a drive,or sit and idle for a few minutes after you have moved the wires with your hand,(bend them). If you find that moving the wires has helped, then I would replace the wires.My02

I had the same kind of problem and also cleaned IAC, which did help for a while, but then idling got progressively worse so I just went out and bought new IAC and my problems were solved.

i bought mine from Discount Auto for like $120, cleaned up my original one, and returned it as if it were the new one.

so you may be able to get one for free.
