$1200 would cover porting the heads, Ferrera 2.00/1.56 valves, Comp 987 springs, 10 degree retainers, locks, locators, seals, machining for seals and locators, milling, cleaning and assembly.
----------------------------------------------------------
-OR-
----------------------------------------------------------
$400 porting
$200 valve job, surface, seals, cleaning and assembly
$600 would be the total if you are supplying the valves, springs, retainers and locks.

If you need him to supply the valves add. . . .
$200- REV or Manley
$240 Ferrera

Even if they are larger valves $600 is the total still? Killer, I thought larger valves would cost more.

You wont be dissapointed...Ive been running my Lloyd heads for over a yr now and I couldnt be any happier..I wanted a 383 that was very tame on the street and made decent #'s down low in the rpm band..Couldnt be much happier..Still need to get the car dyno tuned though It made 390/390 with 8-12 degrees of knock from 3k rpm and up...I should have went with race gas since my compression is 12.8 to 1

My car drives just like a stock car cept for the extra HP...

I wonder what the price difference, or performance difference for that matter, would be if I went with Crane 99893 double springs instead of the Comp 987's and wouldn't need any seat machining...any ideas?

After talking to Nick at Nutek he really likes the 99893 springs but with all other CC hardware (locks, retainers, and most importantly locators). The springs have the best seat pressure and support very high lift but dont require machining. Just make sure you get the springs separately and order all the other compcams hardware, cranes stuff is cheapo except the springs.

Already knew that...I was wondering if there was any significant performance differences between the comp's and the crane's and what could be saved by going with the crane's instead of the comp's and not having to have any mahcining work done...

oh my bad, possibly, depends on how high you spin it, the higer seat pressure of whichever spring that would be, dont know whats higher, could keep the valves seated better creating a very very slight increase in power, but if you are thinking friction loss very unlikely there. Seat pressure will be the only deciding factor there, if there is any i would guess less than 2hp

I did find a $20-$25 difference from the 987's to the 99893's, the
Comp's being a bit cheaper...

I just noticed this thread. Here are the flow numbers from the set of heads that Lloyd ported for me. I got the heads back from him several weeks ago.
.100- 66.8/52.1
.200- 136.9/103.5
.300- 194.5/131.8
.400- 241.4/160.1
.450- 255.9/171.2
.500- 266.6/179.3
.550- 269.6/186.1
.600- 271.7/191.2
.650- 273.1/193.9
The heads looked nice upon arrival. I opted for the cheaper valves and went with 2.02/1.60 valves. I also went with the .600 lift springs from Combo. Lloyd was great to deal with and answered all of my questions promptly.

so how much did you end up spending whontime? if you dont mind me asking...?

what are the max flow #'s you could get just out of p&p and a valve job with stock valves? cause im on a bit of a budget, and am just wondering how big the difference is between stock valves and larger ones.... and im talking numbers...

It is better to buy the valves, springs, etc and take them to Lloyd or does he get all of the parts, depending on what I would want? It would seem logical for me to talk w/ him about my power goals and ask his advice on parts. Is that what most have done?
Thanks!
