A 160* thermostat will not cause that. You need to double check all
the connections you removed.

Mine sometimes does this, i'm sure its the exhaust, but i could be wrong, i'm also running the hypertech & 160* stat, but it did it with the 180* stat also.

Mine does that when I slow down; someone told me it was just the extra fuel burning off. Don't know though.

I don't think it's from the Thermostat install though.

It does it very lightly sounds nice I bet because when I installed the 160 stat there is un burnt gas. You can smell it alittle. But the freakin thing goes.

Don't know where to start here....

The SLP loudmouth backfires like that...Just quit shifting down so much especially at high rpms, and you'll never hear it make that noise.

the poping is the exhaust like mentioned above. What causes it is un burned fuel igniting(sp) in the exhaust. My car does it every once in a blue moon and than will stop after 30 seconds of it. do a complete tune up

After I put my longtubes and true dual setup on, I expirenced the same thing you're describing.

More or less its the exhaust system. My car when stock did this ever so slightly if you let of from WOT. But with out the cat and freer flowing mufflers its more apparent.

It's a pretty common thing to expirence when you change exhaust systems I've been told. I've learned to drive my car so that doesn't happen anymore.

Hope something in there helps.
