Angry My friend with the 455 goat makeing fun of my trans am, Help Please!!!

hi everybody I've been reading on this site for a long time but have never posted this is my first. But on to my ? the story is my friend bought a 455 GT0 about four months ago and he has been dumping all his money into it to restore it. It should be ready around chiristmas time the way his money situation looks right now but all ready he's started to make fun of my car. At first it was like whatever, it's your first muscle car and you doing even know how to race it (was what I was thinking not what I said) so I kind of shruged him off. But now he's just starting to get annoying saying stupid things under his breath and so forth. Now I'm geting upset I have a 95 TA A4 w/ 77,000 miles on it I just have a few mods right now, CAI, GMAF, pulleys, Electric WP, SLP headers, and I have the LTCC box and coils coming soon, 1LE elbow, and air foil. If someone buys what I'm hoping to sell I'll have $2,000 to $3,000 dollers to spend. What will I need to smoke him will this be enough his engine is a perfectly rebuilt 455 that has been bored like 10 over and harmonicly balenced he has long tube headers, demon 4 barrel carb, true duels that go into flows and I think he told be he has posi trac or something like that which gives him really good traction and a set of bf goodrich tires 16x10's. I think that's about it, neither one of us has track tested or cars so what will it take to bet him and leave the track with a big grin on my face, after all the trash talked? Any help would be greatly appreciated. By the way what 1/4 mile do you think he'd run he says he'll be in the high 11's I told him more like 12's what do u guys think???

it depends on what has been done to his GTO as far as rebuilding/upgrading it. I wouldn't be suprised if he went to the track and busted off a 13 if he doesnt know how to drive.

Its sort of tough to tell you who would win. He should be able to take you pretty easy. But his car is old and it really depends on how well he did the motor and restoring the car. I have seen some slow big blocks. But they can also be pretty scary. So i would say if you wanna have a good chance you would need some good flowing heads with a good size cam. And if you have some extra money i would get a stall and some gears. Just go ahead and race him. At least you will know how much you need to beat him.

a properly built 455 will smoke you like nobody's business.

but, remember, in order to do that, he has to (1)know how to drive, (2) have a good suspension system to put all that power to the ground, (3) and, as i mentioned above, it has to be PROPERLY built.

cubic inches dont mean diddly squat if there is no method to the madness.

my friend's 455 makes 700+ hp. and he runs naaaawzzz...

he runs low 8's on the 1/4 mile.

yeah, i stay out of his way.

I would say even with that he would take you. But that is only if he can get that power to the ground.

Dam, I hope its makin way more than 700hp to run low 8s, either that or its in a Neon??

The only person that knows the answer to your question though is....well nobody, race him, find out, then come back with how bad you were beat to find out what you need, if you dont want to lose period, slap a wet 150shot on there, and if you still have money a stall, upgraded tranny, and maybe a cam and some rockers (beefier valvetrain)

If you get some good heads and a good cam then i think you would be okay. You may even be able to take him. But you some gears and a nice stall to get out of the hole faster.

You could get your lt1 heads ported really good to save some money. If done really good they can flow very well. I would get like a 230/236 cam or something around there to get some good power. It just depends if you have emissions to worry about.

afr are expensive heads, yes over $2000 before you add a killer port job $1500

lt4 conv. includes heads, intake, hot cam kit, etc....you only need one set of heads

building a fast car takes alot hard work, LOTS OF MONEY, and lots of time, its not going to happen overnight.....

if your goal is to beat this GTO, start planning your mods, and saving your money, once you find out what kind of times hes running you will have a better idea of what it will take to beat him.

how long has he been working on this car?
