48 is a maf code. The reason you have to hold it to the floor to get it to start is quite possably because with the 48 set the computer is acting like its flooded when you hold it to the floor it clears the floos stage. Also as far as the fans being on thats normal when the ses light is on the fans come on and stay on till the light goes out most of the time you can unhook your battery to get rid of the light but untill you get the bottom of the 48 it will keep coming back on. What is your airflow readings like at adle you should be getting 8 grahms/ per sec. Also look at your air intake tubes inbetween the maf and the throttle body make sure there are no rips or tears or loose hose clamps that will give fals reading to your pc causing the code good luck
Re: my fans run and SES light on when i start
First get a test light or voltmeter and see if any juice is making it to the sensor. If there is good voltage and a good ground at the plug to the MAF then the sensor needs replaced.
Re: my fans run and SES light on when i start
my AFGS is at 471.38. i checked the volts at the plug and i get the 12v to b and c,but on the a to b i get nothin. i am thinking ECU or wire harness prob. what do you guys think
Re: my fans run and SES light on when i start
If the PCM scan is showing 471gps, the MAF is not producing any signal at all. Its just like it was unplugged. You indicate +12V between the pink wire (C) and the black wire (B), correct? With everything connected, you should see 4 to 5V on the yellow wire. The MAF signal itself is a variable frequency that "rides" on the 5V carrier. If you don't have any voltage at pin B19 on the PCM, you need to find out why.
Have you tried swapping in a known "good" MAF sensor?
