My Car won't start

Ok as stated my car won't start. It is turning over and getting fuel, but there is no spark to the spark plugs. OPTI?? oh and the ground electrodes on the plugs are white??

Sorry for posting sooner than 24 hrs. I just did the opti and spark test as stated on shoebox's page. I got 12 dc volts to both terminals "A" and "D". I switched the meter to AC scale and tested terminal "B" to ground while cranking the engine. I got a reading of "0" ac volts. So i guessing I'm further confirming that the opti spark may be my culprit?

Seems like it could be the ignitiion control module or coil.

What happened before it stopped working?

Well I've done my intake gaskets twice in the past few weeks. The first time was because I had a bad oil leak. When I took the lines off of the throttle body I did leak coolant in the direction of the opti. I'm not 100% sure whether or not any of it got onto the opti. Also I did not get the front passenger side intake manifold bolt tightened all the way.

After doing so the car was missing horribly at all rpm ranges, and I was in Nashville. I had to make a 3 hour drive back home. It would take a few minutes just to get up to highway speed. It would studder like crazy in doing so. I posted up on here about it, and everyone told me that it was most likely the manifold bolt not being tightened down all the way. I figured it was coolant on the opti but i wasn't sure.

When I got home my tailpipes were solid black, like it was running rich I assume. A week later I came back home and changed the gaskets a second time. I used a tap in the hole where the bolt would not go into originally, because i realized that the threads were f'd. Everything went smoothly this time and all the bolts were tightened to specs. I reconnected all of the wires/vacuums etc.... I let the car sit for another week without starting it because I had to go back to school. When I got back home yesterday to start the car and go for a ride I got nothing..

This is where I'm at now. Sorry for the long post but I'm bummed.

Do you have any codes set for the opti?

Do you have spark at the coil using a plug wire and a plug?

I don't have any way to check the codes unfortunately. How do I go about checking spark at the coil with the way that you mentioned?

u can take ur coil wire off ur opti and with a srewdriver put it in the coil wire on the coil and put the screwdriver close to a ground point and have someone start the car. if you see a blue arc between the screwdriver and ground point u have spark. they also sell lights that connect to the plug wires and when it fires the light turns on.

I like the tester method bestter, but a screwdriver works too if you are careful.

Ok Thanks guys. I'll try this in a few minutes and get back with everyone. BTW where can I pick up a tester like that? The local parts store?

Yes, most parts stores will have them (or something similar) for under $10.

Yes that light. I love it. I've been shocked by coil voltage too many times. lol

if you arnt getting spark I'd start with a new Coil. I have an accell and it work good. I've also used MSD also. Idk what everyone else would suggest coil wise.

Call me dumb, but do you attach the part with the rubber sleeve to the coil itself and then tough the probe end to ground and then crank the car or how exactly do you use it?
