My car won't rev past 5600 in any gear other than 1st!! Please help
Whenever I'm at WOT in 2nd or 3rd, my car revs up great until 5500-5600 and then it feels like it hits a brick wall. It isn't as bad in first, but it's still noticable. It feels almost like a rev limiter, but that was raised when I got the programing for my Hotcam, and it only started about a month ago. I hooked up my autoxray scan tool to try to figure something out, but nothing looked abnormal. I'm at a loss as to where to start looking. Has anyone experienced this sort of thing before?
man i have the same exact problem, its so pissing me off man, it's what u said exactly, Hitting a brick wall............let me tell you what some other guy told me, first off i changed my fuel filter and fuel pump in hopes of fixing it but it didnt work, asked some other lt1 member that performed a tune up 2 times with no results, turned out to be his Oxygen sensor, im actually thinking its it too because when i got WOT, my Air/fuel reads normal instead of rich under full throttle, im guessing from what he said that its the O2 sensor 100%, im gonna change mine tomorrow and u can do yours also since its cheap to do so.........hope that helps out

I put in new ac delco O2 sensors when i put in the cam, so i hope that's not it. I was thinking maybe valve float as well, but what would cause it to just start up like that all of a sudden, and at such a low rpm? It pulled all the way up to 6300 when i put the cam kit in back in February.

I had this exact problem. It would start doing that at around 5600, after time it started decreasing and it eventually wouldnt rev past 3k. It was the ignition coil and wire. Try that FIRST, like i said i had the same exact problem. It will cost you maybe $50.
The coil, huh? I thought about that but didn't think that would be it. I'll give that a try, though. I've got a stocker around here somewhere that i know is good. Anyone have any more thoughts on this valve float theory? I'd like to rule it out if possible.
hmmm... here is what my car was doing.. at WOT around 4500-5000 RPM'S, my car like skipped and hit the rev limiter which is set at 6600rpm's. It would not shift under WOT " the 2-3 shift "
but driving everyday it was fine, it just happens under WOT. So now it is at the tranny shop and hopefully i will know something in next hour or so..
good luck
