My car makes this buzzing noise help.....

Hi im new to this website, I have only had my car for three months its a 1995
Camaro z28 with 100k miles. But my questions is this everytime I start it, it makes this loud buzzing noise it takes about 2min then goes away, this only happens when I start the car. One mechanic has told me its my abs pump, it sounds like its sucking in air.......what do you guys think it might be?

Re: My car makes this buzzing noise help.....

Sounds more like the AIR pump. Located at the front of the engine, below the driver's side head. Is that where the "buzz" seems to be coming from? The AIR pump runs for about 2 minutes at startup, and then shuts down until the next restart. They corrode and get noisy.

Switching to "modertor" hat.... this is the "Advanced Tech" forum. Generally limited to high tech discussions. Routine tech problems are best handled on the specific forums, e.g. "LT1 Engine Tech". I'll move your thread there.

Welcome to the board.

it seems to be coming from the driver side, next to the radiator and fuse box.

It is the air pump, little black cylinder on the drivers side of the block. It runs until your converter is warmed up.

Be sure that's the problem by unplugging it. If you do decide to purchase one, they are about $100

Re: My car makes this buzzing noise help.....

The dealers should know what it is. There was a recall on the AIR pump/system for the 95 and newer LT1's. They should be repairing it for free.
