My car has 2 problems!!

first of all I had some trouble with my drivers window last weekend. it would go up all but the last 3 inches. so i tore the door panel off and watched what was happening. seems the window motor has 3, or 4 mounting points to the door itself and all but one is broke. the rivets poped through and the fiberglass is partialy broke on them. so it was to go in thursday to get that fixed.....i'm guessing bolts and big washers!!

secondly I was on my way to work today and as i am pulling off the exit from the interstate I thought it was running wierd and by the time I got to the bottom of the ramp I was running on about 1-2 cylinders and with the peddal florred I was doing 10MPH then it jsut died all together. so tried restarting it a few times and it would kick ocasionaly but not run long. so had it towed to the shop, but they can't mess with it til at least thursday if then even. any ideas on this one? i'm guessing the opti took a crap finaly.....the car had been cutting out above 4500-5000 RPM for a while now....had ordered wires but hanve't put them on yet.

BTW this is a 96 Z28 auto with 143K on it....CAI and a cutout!!

about the window, that's your motor dying. it overheats and thats why it stops. get a replacement from autozone for $50 with a lifetime gaurantee.

sounds to me like its the opti...but first i would check all the simple crap like coil, plugs/wires, etc

thanks for the tip and not to sound like an *** but did you read what I wrote about the window?? the rivets for the motor poped out of the door and the fiberglass is actually broke....the motor still works fine.

Cool

Window motor replacement can be done a lot easier by going to Shoebox's siteSee his tech page .The other matter sounds like the coil went south. This happened to me except I was blasting it onto a freeway(imagine being stranded for an hour or so with all those big trucks anf eveything wizzin by.)My gas peddel was useless.but the motor still idled, but I shut it down just in case.Might throw a coil(or even a coil wire on first).My02

walboro 255 was jsut put in the end of last summer so hopefully that isn't it. i also doubt it is the wires....I jsut mentioned those as something I was about to do for the cutting out above 5000RPM.
