3. Did you adjust the valves right? This can lead to false knock or partially collapsed lifters. If your lifters have any collapse problems, I've seen a 35hp+ hit.
Those two points hit the nail on the head.

I wonder if this could be my problem? I ran the stock lifters cause my buddy did and he has 155k on his car and just put a cam in. His car runs like a raped ape and I still have a huge power loss problem. I also had the RR's to tight that wouldnt let the valves close on cylinder number 1 causing 0 compression on it. I wonder if this screwed up my lifters? If I had a bad lifter, would there be any valve noise? How much are new lifters and which ones should I go with to match the cam in my sig?

U can get the Comp Cam R or Pro Magnum Lifters (they are referred either way) for only $20 more than OEM Lifters. DEFINITELY worth doing, especially during a cam swap.

Thanks man! I will look them up on JEGS now! Is there anyway to tell for sure if they are bad before I go and buy new ones?

Like I said before, it's hard to tell if they aren't severely damaged. If ur powerband is weak up top, that's a sign. If they are just weak, u may get some valve float at high RPMs. Also, ur vacuum pressure will be all over the place. The VP is usually the main culprit.

if you spent the cash for the hot cam kit, stop being cheap and send your pcm out to get reprogrammed... its gonna have to get done either way.....

Do you think the XE 224/230 cam could mess up the stock lifters with 90k miles on them? I know its not a huge cam, but it may be big enough. Especially since I have had valve problems with the RR's being to tight.

Zero, you send the whole box. Alternatively, Bryan (owner of Pcm4less) will charge you $75 extra (core) and send one already programmed out. Then, you swap your KM into the new one, pay ~$12 to send it back to him, and upon delivery, he sends you your $75 back. That means NO downtime.

Saint- I know the LT4HC isn't huge, but it does have considerable lift and the springs are higher pressure. On my 109K mile car I had 2 lifters that kept collapsing. I changed to 20-50 synthetic from 10-30 and the problem went away for about 4,000 miles. Then my times started rising. Suddenly I had better weather and track conditions but was running like 12.3-12.5s. If I loosened the roller rockers then retightened them, the car would drop down in the 12.1-12.2 range. After I got some comp Rs my times went back into the 11s until I hydro-locked the motor.

As for contacting Jegs about the Comp R lifters....officially they are not produced anymore. You may have to call a few places that deal comp cams to find someone that still has some in stock.

You can get the Comp R lifters from Thunderracing and from Combination Motorsports!

cam install

I also just put a hotcam in my car, it fees great. Granted it would run better on a reprogramed computer it still runs past some new ls1s therefore i am happy. I plan on sending the computer off but for now i am loving every minuate of it. I did the swap with 118k on the clock and she runs sronger than ever.
