Is my cam too much for this supercharger?

I have the CC306 and was talking to a guy about selling his supercharger. He has the Powerdyne with 8lbs and he said my cam was a bit much....what consequences would I face putting this on my car with the current cam? What size cam would be ideal?

Not an optimal SC cam, but it will "work". You will give up some hp and lose some low end as well.

214/224 114lsa would be a "blower" cam. rskrause (rich) ran that cam on his last setup h/c 383 with a blower/n20 and water injection made 733rwhp . i really think it'd be good for the street. my idea behind cams and blowers is the centerfugal ones used to not do very good down low (not sure anymore) so build in a lot of tq down low so it raps into the boost quickly. with a roots or other type of blower its a different case. but in general an optimized blower cam usually sports a 114-117lsa and a slightly shorter duration than your average n/a cam. reason being overlap which seems to help n/a engines just lets boost blow out the exhaust valve as opposed to n/a where it uses exhaust leaving to suck air into the cylinder.

You should really ask this question in the Force Induction forum of this board.

Is your bottom end stock besides this cam? Is so, and if you cant afford a rebuild, stay away from the blower.

Powerdyne blowers for Lt1 only come with 4 or 6 pounds of boost UNLESS he bought a custom pulley to achieve 8 pounds of boost OR if he has the newest blower that powerdyne offers (I think the newest one is gear driven not belt but I am not sure, hopefully someone would jump in and correct me if I am wrong). Make sure you check with him to see where he got that pulley from or what exact blower it is. Also what is he currently using to cool the intake charge? I would assume IF he is running that kinda boost on a stock bottom end he must have some kinda cooling device (ie intercooler or water injection).

Hope that helps a little,
Claude

I know it's intercooled and I'll have to ask him about the bigger belt question. I do know he has it on a stock bottom end and he doesn't even have aftermarket heads so I don't think that would be a problem....
