my build parts and prices and thoughts

Well been battling this cars probs since i bought it 2 years ago. Finally decided to tear it all down and build it up. Upon tear down found out bad oil ring scarred cylinder nicely, 12 bad valve guides, extremely worn out springs, not to mention oil leaks. found out the car has a small cam and some mild head porting done. All prices are rounded up. First off the machine shop:

valve guides (16) $69
Replace guides $68
valve job $69
set spring install ht $75
polish crank $38
bore block .030 $138
check rods $50
prs rods pstn $50
install cam bearings $33
install core plugs $22
balance $194
misc supplies degrease etc $87

total $900

Now to the parts:

melling timing set $80
Speed pro hyp pistons $161
speed pro rings $50
clevite cam bearings $17
clevite main bearings $26
clevite rod bearings $26
felpro lower gaskets $60
felpro head set $160
plug kit $17
arp head bolts $61
comp spring kit $150
locators $40
used stock crank and rods $175

total $1023
I know some things i could have found cheaper online here and there and what not but the one guy at the parts store is a friend and knows his stuff and will also be helping with assembly. I am very lucky to not have to pay labor for assembly as another buddy and myself will be putting it together. This buddy knows his stuff well too and also does a lot of ls tuning. i will be buying tunercat and cable (anything else i might need for tuning). i plan to give the software and cable to him so he can do some lt tuning if he ever wants to. so what do you all think?

yea i thought i was getting a pretty good deal on the work. Only prob was i had to take it to ft wayne to get it done which is a lil over an hour away. the places near me were significantly more expensive.
