So my 94 camaro z28 has 80,xxx original miles.
Just got an oil change tranny fluid change, new opti, new plug wires, pump, fuel filter, idle control, etc.
So today i parked for a second, came back to the car and it wouldnt start (the idle stayed real low). After a few tries and stepping on the gas it started and the check engine light came on along with the fans... now i got home and let it sit for 2 hours and went outside (low and behold) it started right up with no check engine light????? CAN SOMEONE PLllleaseee help me this is so wierd.

 

you need to have it scanned and find out what the code is. go to your local auto parts store (autozone, oreilly, advance, etc etc). Be sure to get the actual number code that comes up on the stores scanner. you need the actual numbers because lt1s have a specific code list that is more than likely not the same as the code list in the scanner.

The code will be in memory for some time so you can still retrieve it. However, because the engine was idling so low. More than likely the code is due to a very low system voltage since the alternator was spinning so slowly. If the PCM goes into a "brown" condition, anything is possible.

 

Seeing as your car is OBDI, the chances that an auto parts store will be able to pull the code(s) are very slim.

 

This statement ....."it wouldnt start (the idle stayed real low).".... is confusing.

If it didn't start, how could it be idling? Do you mean the started cranked the engine at a low speed?
