My 1995 Z28 LT1 383 stroker is having problems
Well first off I am new here so I am not sure if I am on the correct thread or not. I will try to make this as simple as possible......
I have a 1995 Chevy Camaro Z28 that I deliver pizza in lol , the computer system that GM put in it is an OBD2 PLUG with an OBD1 PROGRAM. It has an LT1 383 stroker that has been programed for everything. I have about 35,000 miles on this engine I built.
Ok, so about a year and a half ago I was out delivering and ended up breaking a valve spring. So I bought some ZZ4 springs and put the engine together. I drove the car about a month and a half on delivery....about 6000 miles. I end up getting a different car for delivery so the Camaro sat for about three weeks. Then once I had time I drove it up to the gas station that is about 1/4 mile up the road, put gas in it and took it down a back road and did a couple GENTLE PULLS to it........
On the second one as I was slowing down it started running bad, then pinging, THEN it overheated. Had to have it towed home.
A couple days later I come back to it, I start it up and it idles...........but seems to be a weak idle. I have checked the compression and they are all at 210psi, I tested the fuel as school and the fuel is good, also tested the fuel volume and it seems to be good.
Looked at the spark and it is a blue/white spark.
Any idea guys......with working two jobs and driving 85 miles one way to school four days a week I haven't had much time to check on it.

When I blew the accel coil in my old bird it would idle but it sounded like chitty chitty bang bang and would not rev up.Had it towed and put the original coil back on.Hope this helps.

You might want to scan it for issues with the free SCAN94/95 download from this website.
You will need a cable and a laptop to do this. Check out the STICKY related to SCAN94/95 at the beginning of this forum for all the info. After you scan it, "Injuneer " this forums Super Moderator could evaluate it for you.
When your car is running right, I bet you probably deliver faster than Jimmy Johns !

Sounds like it was running extremely lean. Are you sure you got the rockers adjusted correctly? Possible the new ZZ4 valve springs were in coil bind?

lol Yea it's pretty quick on delivery. Plus, it has a six point roll cage that I have to climb over to get out. So the customers that see me get out find it pretty cool, and with the Magnaflow exhaust it sounds pretty good with the cam I have when it is idling in their driveway. My car was in the magazine back in the July issue of 2001 in Chevy High Performance, page 105 title was "Speedy Delivery" lol
Thanks guys! I am hoping to get the Camaro home from my mom's house in the next month or so. I do have an Accel distributor I got off ebay......but it is still throwing out good spark at the plugs. But I will check over the things you said.
Thank you again.
