To much oil bad??
Re: To much oil bad??
This question came up in an engine class once... I guessed it would cause an increase in crankcase pressure, maybe cause blowby, etc... Dont know how much truth is behind it, but the way the instructor put it was, too much oil can snap an iron crank. He said the iron is very brittle, and filling it up too much and having the crank smack it at high speeds can damage it. I didn't buy into it too much, and I wouldnt worry about it. I would probably just check the dipstick, and drain a little at a time until it's in operating range.
Re: To much oil bad??
If you filled it too much, don't drive it at all. Don't even start the engine unless you got the right amount in there, will definetly cause some problems if its really over full.

Re: To much oil bad??
If it is overfilled too much it can cause the crank throws to agitate the oil enough to make it foam up and then you can actually lose oil pressure. Seems wierd but you can lose pressure from too much oil. That was a question on the ASE engine repair test.

Overflowed, where? What does the dipstick say? Drain it until the level is correct.
