Is this an MSD replacement for the Opti-Spark?

I happend to see this while browsing for performance parts.

Does this replace the opti-spark? At $150 it looks to be a little cheaper if that's the case...

I belive that is just the Cap and Rotor.

No its just a cap and rotor, its not a full replacement. The idea behind it is that the GM rotor shatters at high rpm this does not.

I don't think its worth while, no it won't fix a broken opti (unless your cap and rotor are the problem), no you can't get it wet.

It is a shiny red color.

This has been discussed before.

The opti is not a fraction as bad as it's reputation and wether this cap and rotor are better remains to be seen seeing as the ship dates keep getting pushed back over and over. That said a standard cap and rotor is $125-140 so this is only a little more, and guys have spent way more to just add color underhood without any potential for something improved out of the deal.
