MSD Opti swap

About to swap out the optispark on my 97. Upgrading to the MSD with an adjustable timing switch. Any suggestion? How does the timing adjustment help?

Re: MSD Opti swap

It doesn't help one bit. In fact it only confuses things worse and makes diagnostics extremely difficult. There is no reference point on the screw so you're basically adjusting it blindly.

Not a good upgrade.

PS - Don't forget to loc-tite the MSD rotor screws. The rotor tends to fall off, just like the factory unit.
