I see that Summit says that the MSD opti for 93-94 Zs is shipping now. I searched on here and am getting some conflicting info. Everyone says that its not shipping. I see that the Opti for 95 and up is not shipping but the 93-94 is out. And the other thing is ppl are saying that this is just a kit? So is it not what I see in the pictures? It looks like a straight forward replacement and all that I would need to change out my bad opti on my 93Z.

the part your looking at is just a cap and rotor, you want the complete opti, and the msd ones are not out yet

it looks the same to me man. Sry i did not take auto shop in HS like you. So why is this MSD cap and rotor not like the new MSD opti? Will it not go on my 93 Z? Im just looking at replacing the opti and would rather go to something more reliable than the 93 Opti from GM. Will the MSD cap and rotor work?

 

the cap and rotor is PART of the opti.

 

The cap and rotor is only part of a complete optispark. Often the optical portion has a problem being contaminated and the bearing can go out (especially on one as old as a 1993). So, it often better to replace the whole unit. The complete MSD opti is not yet available.
