MSD LT1 Distributor....
Posted earlier about MSD distributor taking a crap and MSD telling me it was my ECU.
Here's an update...
Took everything apart again and opened up the distributor.
It was full of Mobil1......
Apparently the camshaft seal behind the distributor in the timing cover is bad.
Has this ever happened to anyone else?
So. I got exactly 2 month use out of this awesome distributor and now I get to buy another one!
Guess I'll do a timing chain also while it is apart again.

There is no "camshaft seal", it is a seal for the opti drive. If that seal was bad and the opti not sealed I could see it filling the opti with oil.
As said you can pay MSD to rebuild it.
The MSD is not an upgrade from stock, the MSD cap and rotor are nice for adding a vent system to the "unvented" optis but the billet base is NOWHERE near the upgrade people expect it to be, if anything it is less reliable than stock.
A timing chain swap is MUCH deeper in than an opti swap and the timing chain is NOT a maintenance item. I can only guess you get that idea from the Neon in your sig.
As said you can pay MSD to rebuild it.

Still attempting to talk to MSD... Waited for thirty minutes, got to "5th" in line (from 8th) and they hung up. Called back and was 15th! Still waiting......

The seal that is likely leaking is the opti drive seal in the timing cover, the waterpump drive seal failing could cause similar issues though. Both can be replaced with the timing cover on the engine.

Anyone have anymore input on doing a timing set since I am this far? Just saw an article where they had a very visibly worn timing set from an LT1 with 125,000 miles. I have over 150,000 on mine.... They are not that expensive. And yeah 96capricemgr, not really interested in messing up any engine for lack of fixing something when I had the chance. Besides, my little Neon has been a trusty sidekick to me for some time now! Good thing cuz my poor Z28 has not been on the road much lately. I cant blame the MSD unit for my bad seal. I am calling them in the morning to get info/confirm above comments on getting it "rebuilt".
One last thought/?... Is there really that much oil up where that seal is? Wow. there was kinda a lot of it in the distributor.

Been through the MSD opti and what he says is true. Not impressed and it is definitely not worth the $$$.

The original poster has a 94. The LT4 Extreme Duty set only works with the vented Opti, so in addition to the exorbitant price for the LT4 set, he would need a vented Opti, a new timing cover, a new short Opti harness, a vacuum/vent harness, and a new camshaft. And the ED LT4 set is total overkill unless he's running a solid roller cam with huge valve spring pressures.
