MSD Ignition harness doesn't fit?
MSD Ignition harness doesn't fit?
I got the ignition harness (8876) in the mail yesterday and went out and got the coil to make sure it fit correctly. My car is a 94 btw. Its the right style with the dual connector. but the two pieces dont fit. Theres a male end on the coil and the msd harness has a male connector on it as well. Here is a picture of the exact harness so you can see what im talking about. I'm sure I'm looking over something that is really stupid.

Re: MSD Ignition harness doesn't fit?
I'm going from memory here, but I think you're probably installing it backwards? Only one connector goes to the coil, the other one you leave open. The dual connector portion connects to the cars harness that USED to go to the coil. I hope that helps...
Re: MSD Ignition harness doesn't fit?
Maybe I really am that stupid. Thanks for putting that in a kind way. I did check it right before I left for school this morning though, so maybe that accounts for it! Anywho, so it plugs into the car part which makes sense, what part plugs into the coil then?
Re: MSD Ignition harness doesn't fit?
Looking at the harness and the connectors for the coil itself. Unplug the two female connectors on the coil (Gray/Black) and plug them into your new harness. The new harness has a connector on it that looks like the connectors on the coil. It has two red and two white wires going into it.
The other end of your new harness gets plugged back into the coil (where you just took the two female connectors off). It has an orange and black wire going into it. If you are looking down at the coil from the drivers side of the car, the new plug goes onto the coil on the side nearest to you.
Then just splice the wires into your new ignition.
I don't know if that helps, but I just used that harness on my 94 last night.
