msd 8.5 wires and pro boot guard

I just installed msd 8.5 wires, and looks like a couple of the wires may touch the headers. I installed this MSD pro boot guard

http://store.summitracing.com/defaul...&part=msd-3412

on the wires where there was a chance that the wire may hit the header, and on all of the boots where the go onto the plug for about 6 inches. It says this stuff is good to 1000 deg, any experience with this stuff? Will it melt if it contacts a header? I really don't know how hot headers get, but 1000 should be enough?

Update:

Burned the #6 wire through the rubber/asbestos fire hose. #8 wire got hot as well but is still ok. Did the OTVC wires yesterday (only put on the passenger side)

The MSD wires are nicer, but I would not recommend running these wires with RK sport headers.

I run the taylor firesleeves that are rated to 1200 deg and have no probems with burnt wires with SLP headers. The part num for them at Thunder Racing is 04-2524.
